Security camera footage showing a man leaving the scene of a fatal stabbing in Melbourne’s west has been released as police seek to identify him.

Niariay Bol, 52, was killed at a Deer Park home just after 11.40pm on December 5, 2021.

It is believed a group of at least nine males had been drinking at the address that evening while Bol stayed in an upstairs bedroom.

The circumstances around his death are still unclear but detectives believe he was fatally stabbed in the abdomen in an unprovoked attack.

Four men were arrested that night: a 23-year-old from Deer Park, a 25-year-old from Fraser Rise, a 22-year-old from Derrimut and a 22-year-old from Caroline Springs.

All four were interviewed and released pending further inquiries.

Police believe not everyone at the Leila St address were close associates of Bol or each other, and are still working to identify several of the men.

This includes one man shown in CCTV footage captured just after midnight on December 6 near the property.

The man is believed to be about 185cm tall with a medium build. He was wearing a ski mask, hooded puffer jacket and tracksuit pants.

Detectives believe the man could have been carrying items underneath his jacket that were stolen from the home.

They are keen to speak to anyone who can identify him.

“Despite two years of investigation, no one has been charged with Niariay’s death and those responsible have not been held to account,” Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said.

“Hopefully the release of this CCTV provides us with further avenues of inquiry to try to obtain answers for Niariay’s loved ones.

“I am appealing to anyone out there who may have information about this incident and who was involved to please come forward and speak to police.”
